Facebook Buying AOL Patents from Microsoft for $550 Million

Just after a couple of week of Instagram Acquisition by Facebook for $1 Billions,a new Deal Comes In. Facebook agreeing to pay $550 Millions for 650 AOL Patents and Patent Applications.
Earlier this month Microsoft sealed a deal with AOL for buying 925 patents and patent applications for pretty cash amount of $1.06 billion.
On April 23, 2012 Microsoft announced that it will retain the 275 AOL Patents Ownership and  retain the license of 650 AOL Patents and Applications that Facebook has agreed to purchase for $550 Million.
Zeus Kerravala, an analyst with ZK Research, says; Reason for being short on 650 AOL Patients is an unclear action from Microsoft but Facebook appears to be Stockpiling to boost their IPO Valuation, that is expected in Spring this year.
Kerravala also added; "Facebook got lots of money. What they need is handsome valuation for their IPO"


"Facebook in February filed for an initial public offering, seeking to raise $5 billion in what could be the largest Internet IPO on record. The company may seek a valuation of $75 billion to $100 billion, people familiar with the matter have said."
